History & Origin

 

It all began on the 4th of October 1883 by a teacher who was at that time, William Alexander Smith, in Glasgow, the land of the Scots. He served as a Lieutenant with the volunteers on Saturday afternoons. William Smith shared his ideas with his two friends, which later invited boys from North Woodside Mission Sabbath School and formed the first company of The Boys' Brigade, 1st Glasgow Company. The Boys' Brigade in Brunei

The first Boys' Brigade company in Brunei was started on the 19th of July 1964 by Mr. Charlie A. Keasberry at St. Andrew's Church, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam .

Mr. Charlie Keasberry was the first Captain of the 1st Brunei Company. He retired as Captain in 1975 and became an honorary advisor to the Boys' and Girls' Brigade in Brunei

Mr. Joseph Chin was the second Captain of the Company.

The third and present Captain is Mr. Walter Yee

This Company is part of the East Asia Regional Fellowship (EARF), which also includes Companies in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
